Director of Student Success & Wellness SPRING 2023

Position Summary 
The Director of the Student Success & Wellness will actively lead and contribute to institution wide efforts to support academic learning, coordinate positive student wellness initiatives, and ensure overall student success. The Director will have oversight in three areas that contribute to student success a) freshmen engagement; b) leadership development of FYS student leaders; and c) student success & wellness. The Director oversees the LCC Cares Initiative and serves as a member of the Student Life Management Team (SLMT). 

Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Freshmen engagement – plan, implement, and assess University’s freshmen Orientation, First Year Seminar, and other relevant programming, regularly assess students’ needs and improve freshmen engagement and retention. 
  • Leadership development of FYS leaders – recruit and train FYS student leaders in order to meet the goals of the leadership program, mentor and coach FYS team in order to maximize community impact.    
  • Student Success & Wellness – plan, implement, and evaluate initiatives to support a holistic approach to success and wellness including academic, social, career, and mental health wellness. Sets vision, tone, and goals for Student Success & Wellness team  

General qualifications:   

  • People-oriented, creative, sincere, and depth of Christian faith commitment.  Firm commitment to LCC's mission.  
  • Experience in Student Development and/or Higher Education and working with student populations. Understanding of developmental concerns of University age populations. Ability to encourage personal growth in others. Ability to initiate relationships and develop rapport with undergraduate students and staff/faculty.  
  • Strong communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational, planning, time-management skills. Strong self-motivation and initiative.  
  • Experience with intercultural issues and international student populations and ability to work in a diverse environment.   

Job-specific qualifications:   

  • Master's degree Student Affairs, Higher Education, or related field is required.   
  • Experience in Student life and /or Higher Education is required.  
  • Experience with supervising intercultural staff and managing budgets. Experience planning large-scale events is preferred.
