Experience Coordinator

Position Summary: 
Experience Coordinator position is responsible for coordinating successful implementation of the Study Abroad Lithuania (SALT) semester and summer programs. This includes student hosting and care, fostering student engagement and cultural dialogue, trip planning and leading, administering finances and leadership development of SALT student leaders.
                                                                           
Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. SALT student hosting and care – continually managing and administering SALT hosting system, provide care and cultural programing for SALT program participants.
Satisfactory performance is achieved when:
  • Programming is regularly assessed and evaluated to meet student needs and SALT program goals.
  • Students receive clear communication on LCC community standards, SALT policies, pre-arrival, and pre-departure procedures.
  • Students receive assistance with medical, psychological, behavioral issues.
  1. SALT student engagement and cultural dialogue – overseeing and fostering SALT students’ integration and engagement in the local communities and participating in the meaningful cross-cultural dialogue with SALT students.
Satisfactory performance is achieved when:
  • Students receive cultural insights and programing through activities in the Cross-cultural Seminar and cultural programing.
  • Students are offered multiple meaningful internship and volunteering opportunities to gain experience in their field of interest.
  • Student internships and volunteering are accurately tracked.
  • Connections and cooperation is developed with local organizations/companies providing internship and volunteering opportunities
  1. Trip planning and leading – planning and carrying out orientation, long weekend and semester break trips.
Satisfactory performance is achieved when:
  • Detailed itineraries for the trips are prepared in a well-organized manner and provided to program participants.
  • All group meals, accommodation, transportation, and cultural activities are booked and confirmed.
  • Security at the destinations is ensured and contingency plans are developed.
  • Each destination is researched in depth, expert, informative commentaries on countries, cities and sights visited is provided on the trips is stimulated.
  • In depth knowledge of destinations and cultures is developed and shared with students in a professional and informative manner
  1. Administering finances – administer SALT programming and program trip budget and finances.
Satisfactory performance is achieved when:
  • Expenditure and semester budget is planned in advance and good steward of money is exercised through liaising with providers of accommodation, transportation companies, etc.
  • All invoices for accommodation, transportation, cultural programming, etc. are collected and recorded in an organized manner and submitted to the business office and paid on time.
  • SALT program expenses do not exceed approved annual program budget.
  1. Leadership Development of SALT student leaders - recruit, train, and mentor SALT student leaders to meet the Leadership Development Program Goals.
Satisfactory performance is achieved when:
  • SALT student leaders are supported and positively engage with students participating in SALT programs.
  • Student leaders demonstrate enhanced leadership skills, cultural intelligence as well as understanding of self and the world around them.
  • SALT student leaders are effectively communicating with SALT program students, act as interpreters of culture, co-lead program trips and organize and lead group events.

REPORTS TO:                                      Director, Center for International Education
WORKS CLOSELY WITH:                 Study Abroad Student Leaders, Study Abroad Recruiters, Program Coordinator, Business Office, Resident Directors, Migration Coordinator, Student Leadership Development program team
LINKS WITH:                                       Accommodation, Transportation, Catering and Cultural program providers in Lithuania and the region


Job Requirements:
 
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s degree
EXPERIENCE:
  • Exposure to American, Canadian and Baltic cultures (preferred)
  • Customer service/hospitality industry
  • Management of systems
  • Management of people
SKILLS:
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) in English, Lithuanian and Russian required
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good leadership skills
  • A team player and has the ability to work well independently
  • Ability to communicate with wide range of demographics: age, gender, income
OTHER:

WORKLOAD:      Full time
                               15+ overnight travel days / semester
