Career Development Counselor

Position Summary:  The Career Development Counselor (CDC) provides individual and group career coaching to students to help them make informed career decisions, prepare for an effective job search and connect with part-time, summer and full-time employment opportunities.  The CDC establishes annual strategic goals in the activities in four focal areas: a) career coaching; b) developing partnerships; c) employment support; d) Alumni program 

Duties and Responsibilities:       
1. Career coaching – plan, implement and deliver individual and group career coaching to students to help them make informed career decisions.  
Satisfactory performance is achieved when:
● Career-coaching tools and training are infused into students’ experience to meet the approved learning outcomes
● Partnerships with academic departments and the Student Success Center are established in order to enhance and unify career support for students of different majors
● Evaluation of learning outcomes, formal assessments, and qualitative feedback demonstrate improved career readiness among students
● Individual statistical data, records, documents and information on the website are accurately maintained 
2. Developing partnerships - proactively engage employers and social partners in Lithuania and abroad to provide meaningful experiences, internships, mentoring connections and industry knowledge.  
Satisfactory performance is achieved when:
● A growing number of strategic, mutually beneficial partnerships with employers is established each year and maintained in a database
● Innovative events and programs where students and employers are brought together for networking are delivered in a consistent manner
● Information for the employers on the website is accurately maintained and timely updated
● Students are connected to practicum placements and opportunities are widely advertised to them through official channels and platforms  
3. Employment/Graduate School support – provide assistance and support in locating part-time, summer, and full time employment opportunities and/or admission to graduate school.  
Satisfactory performance is achieved when:
● Employment trends and opportunities in Lithuania and abroad in various industries are researched and analyzed regularly and presented to students
● Students are educated in resume-building, interview skills, effective job searching, etc through the delivery of content in-person and online
● Information about part-time and summer employment opportunities is presented in a clear, consistent, and accessible manner
● Students feel confident about their skills for securing employment or admission to a graduate school. 
4. Alumni program – provide strategy and support for the program in order to connect students with alumni for professional development purposes.  
Satisfactory performance is achieved when:
● Alumni are actively engaged in order to develop student opportunities for experiential endeavors locally and internationally (mentoring, events, etc.)
● Information on Alumni (contacts, employment, etc.) is accurately maintained in a database.  

REPORTS TO                              Student Life Vice President
WORKS CLOSELY WITH         Faculty, Registrar, Department Chairs, Student Life staff, Marketing, Advancement office   

 Required Qualifications: 
● Master’s degree in a related area (Counseling, Human Resources, etc.). Experience in Higher Education is a benefit.  
● Strategic thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong self-motivation and initiative.
● High level of customer service; collaboration, strong work ethic; attention to detail;
● Strong organizational, planning, networking, mentoring and interpersonal skills.
● Familiarity with career assessment instruments, career counseling techniques, career development theory, etc. 

Workload:      Full-time (1.0 FTE)
