POSITION SUMMARY: The Student Success Coordinator will actively lead and contribute to institution-wide efforts to ensure overall student success, support academic learning, and improve retention of LCC students. The coordinator will support four areas that contribute to student success: 1) Supporting first year programming 2) Providing proactive success coaching for students; 3) Supporting academically ‘at-risk’ students; and 4) Coordinating individual and group tutoring.
Serves as a member of the Committee on Academic Standing (CAS) and the WeCare Team.
1. Support for First Year Programming
- Serve on the New Student Orientation Committee.
- Support integration efforts for new students into LCC and Klaipeda.
- Partner with Admissions team to support early student connections by identifying potential grouping strategies prior to arrival.
- Recruit, train, and mentor FYS Student Leaders to implement their role and encourage person growth and development.
- Teach a First Year Seminar class each semester.
- Provide input to the FYS curriculum.
- Demonstrate effectiveness through improving number of students feeling connected and integrated into campus life.

Provide proactive success coaching for students
- Provide 1-on-1 coaching services by request or referral focused on building soft skills and strong academic habits. Coaching topics could include time management, procrastination/prioritization, goal setting, motivation, utilizing support resources, etc.
- Support high achieving first year students in their acclimation to life at LCC through success coaching.
- Demonstrate effectiveness through increased retention and engagement through repeated success coaching meetings.
3. Support for academically ‘at-risk’ students
- Support identified “at-risk” students (e.g., those with conditional admission, academic probation, academic warning, and early or reported poor academic performance) through individual strategies and connection to relevant services to improve academic performance.
- Manage early alert systems and respond to all cases accurately and in a timely, caring manner.
- Demonstrate effectiveness through retention of identified at-risk students and documented outcomes of cases.
4. Coordinate learning support service
- Coordinate campus resources to support students academically. Connect students to other campus resources when necessary for student success.
- Maintain a schedule of a comprehensive list of academic services (tutoring, exam review, supplemental instruction sessions, etc.) to assist students in becoming independent and intentional learners.
- Develop and run innovative initiatives (workshops, seminars, in-class presentations, discipline-specific assignments) to support students in their success and development of study skills.
- Demonstrate effectiveness through increased student engagement with learning support services and student satisfaction with services provided.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Relevant bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education or related field is preferred.
Experience: 2+ years of Student Life/Student Development Experience
Experience working with international student populations.
Experience working with data management systems case management and reporting.
Passion: To coach students to persist in studies and develop habits to lead to academic success.

Graduate Assistantship for MA programs:
The Graduate Assistantship Program is an opportunity for individuals who wish to pursue an M. A. in TESOL or International Management. LCC has created 2 assistantships for students serving as Graduate Resident Directors starting Fall 2023. These assistantships include on-campus housing, one roundtrip flight and a 100% tuition discount. Students will serve in Residence Life and Housing.
Expectations include:
- 30 hours a week in Residence Life and Housing
- 40 work days of vacation per year
