POSITION SUMMARY:
The Intercultural Education Coordinator (IEC) is responsible for planning and delivering intercultural education programming with the aim of promoting intercultural competence development and greater cross-cultural understanding on campus. The IEC has oversight of activities in three areas: a) Intercultural education and assessment of intercultural competence; b) Intercultural programming and celebration, and c) Leadership development of intercultural student leaders.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Intercultural Education training – train and provide support to University staff, faculty, students, and the broader community on topics of multiculturalism.
Satisfactory performance is achieved when:
- Materials and curriculums for intercultural training needs are regularly updated, maintained, and made available as a resource.
- Intercultural training, workshops, and facilitated educational sessions are provided regularly to the LCC community.
- Community Multicultural Awareness Program curriculum is continuously updated and training is delivered to the broader community (prospective students, youth, etc.).
- Local and international stakeholders are engaged in university life through programming and social affairs.
- Individual statistical data, records, and documents are accurately maintained.
- Leadership development of Intercultural leaders - recruit, train, and mentor student leaders to meet the LDP goals.
Satisfactory performance is achieved when:
- Student leaders demonstrate enhanced leadership skills through positive community impact.
- Engaging intercultural education programming (culture nights, skills workshops, trips, etc.) is implemented and allows students to enhance their intercultural competence.
- Assessment of intercultural competence – measure students’ intercultural competence to evaluate the success of programming and initiatives (in partnership with Institutional Research Director).
Satisfactory performance is achieved when:
- Students demonstrate improved intercultural competence (knowledge, skills, attitudes).
- Recommendations are provided based on assessment results.
- Individual statistical data, records, and documents are accurately maintained.

Reports to: Director of Engagement and Formation
Works closely with: Faculty, Student Life Staff
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Relevant Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in Intercultural Studies or Relations is preferred.
Experience: Knowledge of contemporary intercultural issues such as intercultural understanding, equity, and human rights.
Experience in Student Development and/or Higher Education and working with student populations.
Passion: Promoting intercultural education that integrates Christian faith, global awareness, and meaningful engagement across cultures.

Graduate Assistantship for MA programs:
The Graduate Assistantship Program is an opportunity for individuals who wish to pursue an M. A. in TESOL or International Management. LCC has created 2 assistantships for students serving as Graduate Resident Directors starting Fall 2023. These assistantships include on-campus housing, one roundtrip flight and a 100% tuition discount. Students will serve in Residence Life and Housing.
Expectations include:
- 30 hours a week in Residence Life and Housing
- 40 work days of vacation per year
- 3-year contract
